9/11: Ten Years Later — History.com

What were you doing on 9/11 ten years ago? Many of you were just learning to walk and talk. I was in my classroom, with one of my 7th grade classes when the Principal's voice came on over the intercom. We were advised to that something was happening in New York City - whether an accident or attack, too soon to tell. We turned on the tv just as the second tower fell. Some kids were laughing - the nervous kind of laughter that doesn't mean the situation is humorous, but rather the people laughing are unsure how to respond. "Is this real?" "What is happening? Are we at war?" Silence filled the room as the realization that those buildings were filled with people. We were witnessing history in the making and it wouldn't be clear until later the viciousness of the attack or how many individuals sacrificed themselves to save others.

I hope that people can learn from this so that it never happens again. What will the price of peace be? I believe that peace starts at home, one person at a time. You can make a difference - one day at a time. Be the change that you want to see in the world!
